MBConsulting Associates brings knowledgeable IT (Information Systems & Technology) assistance to companies complying with government regulations, looking for a review of their IT investment or embarking on new ventures.

We advise clients on Information Systems Strategy, Portfolio Management, IT Governance such as steering committees and IT policies and controls to comply with Sarbanes Oxley regulations. We assist clients with business process modeling and requirement specification, software selection, and general project management.

Sarbanes Oxley Guidance

  • For a large technology subsidiary in Los Angeles, was asked to perform the Sarbanes Oxley testing of the IT controls, and discovered poorly specified controls and documentation. Working to a tight deadline, reformulated the controls in order to have viable test programs and satisfactory test results. Completed the testing and received commendation from the client.
  • For a San Diego software company guided the IT Sarbanes Oxley project lead through the process of documentation and testing, and the company successfully completed the required activities for compliance in 6 weeks. The auditors gave positive feedback on the IT Sarbanes Oxley approach and on my participation.
  • For a Northern California software company performed the IT environment analysis, controls identification, modification and documentation, controls testing and remediation for IT Sarbanes Oxley compliance. Guided the company through the process resulting in a successful Sarbanes Oxley audit.

Sarbanes Oxley Recurring Projects

  • Successfully completed the IT Sarbanes Oxley compliance documentation and testing of controls for a household products manufacturing and distribution company. Subsequently was requested to assist with the UK office compliance initiatives, to review and give guidance on the documentation and methodology, and to develop the test plan. Recently completed year three testing.
  • IT Sarbanes Oxley specialist/advisor on projects for small Biotech companies both in Northern and Southern California. Developed templates and reviewed and guided the work of consultants at the Biotech companies.
  • Continue to assist clients through years three and four. Provide additional value by performing reevaluation of controls based on new SEC guidelines, saving the client both consulting and auditors' Sarbanes Oxley related fees.

Governance Projects

    • We advise clients on Information Systems Strategy, Portfolio Management, IT Governance such as steering committees and IT policies and controls to comply with Sarbanes Oxley regulations. We assist clients with business process modeling and requirement specification, software selection, and general project management.

    • At Eastridge Group, assisted management with restructuring of the IT division and reviewing the software and Internet strategies. Mentored the business analyst hired to undertake a requirements analysis of the critical business systems, and to follow the plan developed by MBConsulting. Assisted in the hiring of a fulltime webmaster, giving prominence to the web strategy and the online tools necessary to compete effectively in the market.

  • For a households products manufacturing/distribution company formalized project management leading to great visibility of project status and progress. Helped establish a planning committee and a PMO approach to selection and management of business initiatives that lead to large IT undertakings. These activities allowed the company to identify potential overlap in two different endeavors that would have cost tens of thousands of dollars in duplicated and wasted effort.
  • For an international High Tech company in Silicon Valley, undertook the development of a project plan for the selection of a new budgeting tool. In addition developed the approach and templates for the requirements gathering, analysis and specification phases of the project. The approach needed to incorporate data collected during a previous attempt at implementing a budgeting tool, and to take into account the limited access to a large and wide-spread user-base. Despite initial skepticism of the approach, the client manager acknowledged that the approach was a major factor in the successful outcome of the project.
