Moira Berman founded MBConsulting Associates to bring knowledgeable IT (Information Systems & Technology) assistance to companies embarking on new ventures, upgrading, selecting or implementing software, or looking for a review of their IT investment.

In the entertainment industry, MBConsulting assists clients with their specification, selection and implementation of the systems that run the theme park business, such as Retail Point-of-Sale and inventory management, Food Services Point-of-Sale and inventory management, Admissions Point-of-Sale, internet web sales and the back-end systems to complete the business processes, such as accounting, marketing and management reporting.

LEGOLAND, California

Developed IT Strategy for this and future LEGOLAND Parks. Identified requirements for all business applications (admissions, retail sales, food services, maintenance management, Human Resources, inventory control), and designed the integration between these applications and the accounting system as well as reporting tool (OLAP). Successfully managed implementation of all the systems within a very tight timeline and budget.

EDG, Entertainment

Managed the setup of the offices (cabling, phone system, H/W & S/W) for this innovative startup. Developed and managed the plan for IT needs for an indoor state of the art entertainment center that would operate 24/7. Successfully managed the design and development of a proprietary "smart disc" to replace coins and tokens in video games.

Village Nine Leisure

Two months prior to the opening of the first indoor entertainment venue requested to oversee the final phase of development and customization, followed by the implementation of hardware and software by multiple vendors and consultants. Directed the cabling, phone systems, systems integration, software testing and implementation. Reorganized the plan and the team based on critical needs, and the venue opened on time and with critical applications in place to run the business. Directed two subsequent implementations at two new centers.

Bonfante Gardens

Developed an IT strategy for the Park along with the business processes for Marketing, Retail Sales, Food Sales and Cash Control. Developed an RFP for the POS to run the park activities, made recommendations on the proposed systems, and managed the implementation of the systems. The implementation met stringent budget and time constraints and the Park opened on the planned date.

International Spy Museum

The museum under construction sought our advice on their imminent decision on point-of-sale vendors for admissions, reservations, retail and food services. We recommended a more detailed requirements specification against which to measure the vendor offerings. Undertook the development of a comprehensive RFP and also identified the appropriate short list of vendors. The initial vendor was included in the short list, and failed to meet many of the system requirements. The client avoided making an extremely costly mistake, ultimately awarding the contract to a vendor they had not been aware of prior to the RFP exercise.
